How much do your services cost?
The complexity of any legal matter will decide the cost. If your matter requires additional handling, such as, mailing to a litigant that lives out of state, excessive itemization, revisions, document review and/or retrieval or telephone calls, we will charge accordingly. Our costs are reasonable and can be made in installments, however, we can not complete, file or serve any legal documents until the balance has been paid in full. Our services range from $50 to $750 and we accept Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express and checkcards with the Visa or Mastercard logo. We can also, with the client's approval, process a credit card payment over the telephone.
***Please note that before services are started you must pay at least a deposit representing half of your service fees - services can not be completed or filed and paperwork can not be released to the client until the entire balance has been paid in full***
Does In Pro Per have payment plans?
No, we are sorry but we do not accept payment plans. We require at least 50% of the services fees to be paid to start your legal services. Additionally, we can not complete any service, file any documents or release any paperwork to the client until the balance is paid in full.
Do your service fees include the court filing fee, courier fees and other costs?
At In Pro Per, our low service fees do not include the court filing fees or the costs to serve the legal papers on the opposing party. In Pro Per has an attorney service that will take your papers to the courthouse or the county recorder's office free of charge as a courtesy to our client. If a client needs a fee waiver, the client must physically take the papers to the court themselves. However, In Pro Per will complete the fee waiver papers without any additional costs to the client.
In Pro Per will professionally prepare your court papers, photocopy them and label them in the proper format for filing with the court. We are experienced in filing court papers in all counties and are aware of the requirements for a successful filing. We will also prepare a proof of service and mail the documents to assist our clients in properly serve opposing parties. In Pro Per will also coordinate the personal service of a cooperative party through our office. Therefore, we can assist our clients in proceeding in their legal matter in the most cost effective manner.
What if I live too far and can't physically come to your office?
In Pro Per can assist our clients with most matters by fax and telephone. Many of our clients live out of county, out of state and even overseas! Because we accept all major credit cards, we can have you send your papers by fax or email and you can authorize your payment of fees by credit card over the phone.
We can also schedule a telephonic consultation for $75 or we can review documents and schedule a telephone consultation for $150!
I do not feel competent to go to court by myself, will In Pro Per go to court for me?
In Pro Per is a legal document preparation company with attorneys on staff who can be retained to handle your court case and appear in court on your behalf. Our attorneys are experienced and trained to handle matters in court as well as negotiate your matter with opposing counsel. We have professionally handled family law, civil and adminstrative matters successfully.
On the other hand, there are many legal matters that laypeople can handle on their own. Because we are attorney-assisted paralegal service, we will explain the proceedings, describe to you what you can expect and allow you to make an informed decision whether you want to represent yourself.
In Pro Per also has an attorney in the office everyday that handles limited scope family law appearances which are reasonably priced from $650-$750 depending on the complexity of the matter and the amount of follow-up required after the hearing.
Do you handle other matters besides divorces, bankruptcy and collections?
Yes, we handle many other legal matters, such as, establishing child, spousal and custody/visitation orders, modifications of child support, spousal support and visitation and custody modifications, establish paternity, stepparent adoptions, uncontested guardianships of the minor's person and estate and business formations (California Partnerships, Corporations and Limited Liability Company).
In Pro Per DPS can complete and process over 200 legal forms, including, breach of contract actions, civil law and motion, civil discovery, subpoenas, small claims matters, wills, simple trusts, powers of attorney, advance medical directives, small estate probate proceedings, lease and rental agreements, independent contractor agreements, confidentiality agreements, promissory notes, bill of sale, abstract of judgment, collections, judgment recovery, deed and property conveyance and many, many more.

My spouse is in prison, out of state or out of the country, how can I proceed with a divorce under those circumstances?
In Pro Per has been expertly and professionally handling divorces for clients in a variety of unique situations. Over the years we have compiled numerous resources to get divorce documents filed and served to your spouse; whether they are in prison, out of the state or overseas! In Pro Per also has a number of accounts with Fed Ex, DHL and UPS to assist you in finding the most cost effective manner of serving documents.
With our People Locator services, we can also assist you if you don't the location of your spouse. In Pro Per is experienced in preparing Applications for an Order to Publish the Summons and Complaint in both family law and civil matters. For $150 we will use our resources to locate your spouse and follow California statutory procedures to get the summons published. Contact In Pro Per for more information about this requirement and when it is utilized.
Will an attorney complete my documents for me?
At In Pro Per DPS your initial contact is usually completed with the assistance of an attorney. At that time, the attorney will explain the services In Pro Per DPS will provide, the costs of the services as well as the law concerning that specific legal issue. Additionally, In Pro Per DPS has a competent staff of experienced and ethical paralegals who complete most of the legal paperwork, prepare the papers for filing and service of process. If the attorney is unavailable on the date of your interview, you may be contacted after your initial interview by the attorney to ask some follow up questions.
However, because In Pro Per DPS is attorney-assisted, all legal paperwork is reviewed by the attorney prior to obtaining the client's signature and the attorney remains involved in your legal matter from the initial stages until its completion. Additionally, all paralegals and support staff are supervised by the attorney at all stages of the document preparation. As well, an attorney is on staff in the office everyday!
I received all of the forms that I need to complete from the court but I just have some questions about some of the language, can In Pro Per help me?
Yes! In Pro Per can assist you in completing the forms with a consultation. Simply bring your forms to the interview and an attorney will review the forms with you and answer any questions that you may have. The attorney will explain the law and assist you in responding to the questions in the form in a manner required by law. The fee for forms consultation is $75. If you decide that you do not want to complete the forms on your own after the consultation, the $75 will be applied to your overall service fees.
Additionally, if you just have some legal questions regarding a document you received or a specific legal service, you may consult with the attorney for $75 to obtain answers to your legal questions. (Costs slightly higher if you require a consultation more than one hour in length. Maximum Consultation: 2 hours.)
Will In Pro Per DPS still prepare bankruptcy cases even after the law changes October 17, 2005?
Yes, In Pro Per DPS is very knowledgeable about the new law and intends to provide the same competent, efficient and fast services under the new law as we did under the old law. Please see our section under "Bankruptcy Services" for more details and our new price list.
What if I need to have my papers completed the same day in order to satisfy a court deadline?
If you require same day service, In Pro Per will gladly accomodate you if we have an appointment available on our schedule. Please allow at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours for your services to be completed. Same day service may cost an additional $50. Therefore, if normal service fee price is $250, same day service will cost $300.
What if I pay my service fee and I change my mind? Can I receive a refund?
Refunds are granted at the discretion of the owner of the company. Whether you receive a full or partial refund depends upon what stage you are terminating your services. If In Pro Per has already completed half of your document preparation process, completed revisions or completed other services on your behalf, your refund, if any, will reflect the completion of those services.
